Number translation services
Sometimes known as non-geographic numbers (NGN) or non-geographic number translation services, they now play an important role in the contact strategy of businesses and offer a wealth of advantages beyond the 'ordinary' telephone number. For sometime now, many organisations have learned that the correct use of non-geographic numbers plays a vital role in an effective customer contact strategy.
Our non-geographic numbers enable callers to your business (customers or employees) to call you at a charge chosen by you. The portfolio includes the following 08xx non-geographic numbers:
- 0800 - FreeCall (freephone)
- 0845 - LocalCall (local rate)
- 0870 - NationalCall (national rate)
- 0871 - NationalCall Plus (fixed rate)
- AreaCall (out of area numbers)*
- International FreeCall (international freephone)
- Universal FreeCall (universal international freephone numbering)
* All services use 08xx number ranges except AreaCall

Who pays?
All of the non-geographic numbers work in the same way, the primary difference is how the cost of the call is divided:
- the cost of calls made to FreeCall, International FreeCall and Universal FreeCall numbers is paid by you
- the cost of calls to LocalCall and AreaCall numbers is shared between you and the caller
- the cost of calls made to NationalCall, NationalCall Plus and PremiumCall numbers is paid by the caller and you may receive outpayments on calls made to these numbers.
Already got a number from a different supplier?
Number portability agreements exist to allow you retain your existing number, after all your customers will have got used to using it by now, and allow you to transfer to another provider for cheaper usage charges.
